DuraFlex Chimney Repair Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

DuraFlex Chimney Repair in Brentwood: What to Know First

DuraFlex chimney repair in Brentwood typically runs between $225 and $1,800 depending on whether we’re patching a seam, replacing a warped section, or rebuilding the connection at the appliance collar. As an independent DuraFlex service provider, Top Hat Chimney has worked on these aluminum liners across Suffolk County for over 29 years, and most repairs are done in a single visit once we’ve put eyes on the damage. We’ll give you an honest price before any tool comes off the truck, and if the liner doesn’t need replacing, we’ll say so. Call (934) 935-3847 for a free estimate.

This page is for Brentwood homeowners who already own a DuraFlex liner or are looking at one and want to know what breaks, what it costs to fix, and whether a repair is worth it or if you should replace the section outright.

How DuraFlex Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • Seam separation at the snap-lock joints on Pro Series liners. The DuraFlex Pro line uses a 7-ply construction with a mechanical seam that can open up if the liner was pulled too hard during install or if the chimney takes on wind-driven rain. We see this most often in Brentwood capes and colonials near Brentwood State Park where rooftop exposure is full and unshaded. The fix is usually a seam re-crimp and a stainless worm-gear band, not a full replacement.
  • Pitting and pinholes in the inner wall of 316L Pro liners used with oil-fired equipment. Oil exhaust runs hot and chemically aggressive, and the inner ply on a 316L alloy liner will pit before the outer layers show anything. The telltale sign is a faint sulfur smell near the cleanout. We sleeve the damaged section with a compatible stainless patch or replace the run if pitting has passed the halfway mark.
  • Warping at the first 18 inches above the appliance outlet on DuraFlex SW smooth-wall liners. This is the hottest zone in any venting system, and smooth-wall stainless transfers heat fast. When a wood stove or insert has been run hard, that first section warps and the wall loses its round. We cut out the warped section and splice in a new length, keeping the DuraFlex OEM profile so the rest of the liner stays true.
  • Crushed or ovaled sections from someone stepping on the liner during a chimney repair. DuraFlex is flexible by design, but it does not spring back if it gets kinked. We see plenty of liners that were fine until a roofer or a previous repair crew treated the flue like a footpath. A crushed section creates turbulence and creosote loading above it. We replace the ovaled length and check the entire run for hidden damage with a camera.
  • Burned-out gaskets at the storm collar and cap assembly. The cap and storm collar are where water gets in if the gaskets have flattened or the silicone has dried out. This is the most preventable DuraFlex failure we see. We keep replacement gaskets on the truck and re-seal every connection with a high-temp neutral-cure silicone rated for flue gas temperatures.

Our DuraFlex Chimney Repair Process

  1. 1
You call, a person answers. That’s Wendell or one of the crew. We’ll ask what you’re seeing, what type of appliance is vented, and when the liner was installed. If it sounds urgent, we move the schedule.
  2. 2
We show up and look before we touch. We run a camera from the top and from the cleanout. You’ll see the footage yourself. If the liner is sound and the problem is something else, we’ll tell you that and charge you nothing for the trip if you’re inside the county.
  3. 3
We price the repair in writing. The number on the sheet is the number on the invoice. No add-ons after the fact. If we need a DuraFlex OEM part, we say so. If a quality aftermarket equivalent does the same job for less, we say that too.
  4. 4
We do the work carefully. DuraFlex liners don’t tolerate shortcuts. We support the section above any splice so we’re not putting stress on the seams we’re trying to save.
  5. 5
We test before we leave. Draft check at the appliance, camera pass on the finished repair, and a written note of what was done and why.
  6. 6
You get the 90-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If the repair isn’t holding up, one call brings Wendell back. No charge, no argument, no phone tag.

What DuraFlex Chimney Repair Costs in Brentwood

Here’s what we typically see on DuraFlex jobs in Brentwood:

  • Storm collar and cap gasket replacement: $225-$340
  • Seam re-crimp with banding: $180-$295
  • Section splice (one to two feet of replacement liner): $350-$650
  • Warped or crushed section replacement (three to eight feet): $600-$1,100
  • Full DuraFlex liner removal and new run, including cap assembly: $1,200-$1,800 depending on height and access

The big variables are roof pitch and chimney height. A steep-pitched cape near Brentwood State Park adds setup time and safety rigging. Liner diameter matters too; a 6-inch liner costs less than an 8-inch. We’ll give you a fixed price before work starts. Call (934) 935-3847 and we’ll come out and quote it, no charge inside the county.

Why Brentwood Homeowners Call Top Hat Chimney for DuraFlex Work

We’ve been climbing onto Brentwood roofs since 1999. Wendell Pike started Top Hat Chimney with a truck and a set of rods, and he’s still the one who answers the phone half the time. When you have a DuraFlex liner that’s acting up, you want someone who has handled enough of them to know the difference between a seam that needs re-crimping and a liner that needs replacing. That’s us.

We also don’t pretend DuraFlex is the only brand worth knowing. We work with HeatShield and Gelco regularly, so if your liner has failed and DuraFlex is not the right fix, we’ll tell you what is. Our crews are background-checked, in uniform, and the 90-Day Done Right Promise is on every job. The camera footage and a plain-English verdict - every time, no exceptions. If it needs doing, we’ll do it right. If it doesn’t, Wendell will tell you that too.
