You’ll see a white crust forming at the joint. We separate the pieces, install an isolation gasket, and clean the mating surfaces. Your cap will outlast the original install by years.
• Screen mesh pulling away from the cap frame. The standard mesh on many DuraFlex caps is fine enough to stop animals but light enough to tear when a determined squirrel or raccoon decides it wants in. Once there’s a tear, you’ve got a clear path for leaves, twigs, and the occasional bird. We replace torn mesh with a heavier stainless weave that keeps animals out without cutting airflow. The flue doesn’t care how it looks. It cares how it breathes.
