How DuraFlex Products Fail - and How We Fix Them
- DuraFlex 316L pitting at the flue connector. We see this most often on oil-fired furnaces where the liner transitions at the base. Sulfur in the exhaust condenses there, and over years it eats pinholes through the 316L alloy. The liner looks fine from the top, but the bottom ten inches are Swiss cheese. We cut that section out, sleeve in a new connector, and reweld. If the pitting has climbed more than two feet, it’s a full liner replacement, not a patch.
- DuraFlex Pro ovalization on tall chimneys. Chimneys over 25 feet with a straight DuraFlex Pro liner sometimes get a kink where the liner passes through a slightly shifted flue tile. Someone forced it during original install instead of breaking out the offset tile.
